In the Sistine Chapel most people spend fifteen minutes with their head tipped back and leave without grasping what they looked at. I lead you to it through Raphael and the galleries so that by the time you raise your eyes to the ceiling you already understand what you’re seeing — and then it isn’t a ceiling, it’s a shock.
